Savage to build and operate Texas rail terminal

USA: ExxonMobil and SABIC have appointed Savage to design, build and operate a rail terminal to handle polyethylene traffic at the Gulf Coast Growth Ventures petrochemical plant in San Patricio County, Texas, which they plan to open in 2022.

Savage will provide shunting, wagon washing, loading and repair services as well as facility maintenance.

The company currently operates more than 50 rail terminals in North America, handling commodities including chemicals, fuels, food-grade products and construction materials.

‘Our nearly two decades of handling plastics and working with major industry producers, coupled with our extensive rail experience, enable us to design this rail facility from an operator’s perspective to ensure it functions safely, efficiently and reliably without impact on the surrounding environment’, said Brad Crist, President of Savage’s Energy & Chemical Sector.
