Driver dies at Tyseley depot
THE Rail Accident Investigation Branch has launched an inquiry into the death of a driver at Tyseley depot in Birmingham. What is being described as a ‘serious incident’ occurred on Saturday evening, but no further details have been released. West Midlands Trains said ‘there was a serious incident at Tyseley depot that sadly resulted in a fatality’. It is understood that no-one else was injured and WMT added that there was no disruption to services. The coroner has also been informed.
Conwy Valley branch reopens
THE Conwy Valley branch in north Wales has reopened after a three-week possession to replace sleepers and reinforce Ffestiniog Tunnel with 600 rock bolts. Work to replace the platform at Dolgarrog has also been completed, after the station was damaged by flooding in August.
