Guest locos and coaches at Richmond Light Railway

THE Richmond Light Railway’s (RLR) Charity Summer Steam Fair on August 17 featured two visiting locomotives: Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway’s O&K 0-4-0WT Eigiau and new-build replica Lewin 0-4-0T Samson, from Beamish.

Accompanying Samson were two coaches newly completed at Beamish.

Rebuilt 0-4-0VBT Leary working top-and-tail with Beamish’s visiting replica Lewin 0-4-0T Samson at the Richmond Light Railway on August 17. Behind Leary is Beamish’s whimsical new two-seat carriage and the ‘Pew Coach’.  PETER NICHOLSON

The ‘Pew Coach’, so-called since it was built from pitch-pine recovered from church pews (RM Oct 2018), was accompanied by a novel vehicle inspired by searches for a prototype on which to base a new replica brake coach for Beamish’s standard gauge waggonway.
