Railtrail Tours’ brand new ‘Focus on Steam’ 2020 programme features over 25 UK and Europe steam tours, including a new USA option.
There will be a variety of short five-day trips of UK steam railways, including miniature to standard gauge. The UK programme kicks off at Easter with two tours departing on April 9.
The Kent & Sussex Easter Steam Explorer features five steam lines. It also includes the Chatham Dockyard ‘Festival of Steam’ and a brewery tour in just five days!
Whilst the eight-day ‘Isle of Man and Lancashire Vintage Transport’ is brand new it includes a plethora of attractions. These attractions are a long weekend with the Isle of Man ‘Rush Hour’ event, plus trams, commercial vehicles, steam trains, brewery and more back on the mainland.
It’s a tour that visits all those places you always meant to go to and a few you may not have heard of before!
Also, over the Easter period, there is an amazing 11 day Dresden Steam Festival & Saxon Narrow gauge lines tour departing April 14 that is almost fully booked already.
This tour features not only the steam festival but mainline steam running, five of the wonderful Saxon Narrow Gauge lines, including a private steam photo charter, vintage trams, a steamboat cruise and more!
For summer steam relaxation the nine-day ‘German Summer Steam’ departing June 6 features steam over the whole of the Harz Mountains Railway – a rare event these days – plus standard gauge steam that you have probably never experienced before.
Add steam in France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia to the list, however, the flagship tour of the year is the superb 14 day USA ‘Fall Colours Steam’ tour with stunning steam action in the States and glorious autumnal colours. It departs from Heathrow on September 30, but be quick to book this tour as it’s already over half full.
