New tram line opening date announced

MANCHESTER Metrolink has announced that its new Trafford Park line will open on 22 March. The £350 million project has added 5.5km of line and six stops to what is already the largest tram system in Britain. The route length will now be 101.5km, with 99 stops. Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said: ‘ It is a much-needed addition to the Metrolink network and will encourage more people to use public transport to journey around our city-region, and in doing so reduce congestion on our roads and improve the quality of our air.’
