Court clears way for overcharge claims on Southeastern and SWR

The competition court has given a green light to a multi-million pound claim on behalf of millions of railway passengers on Southeastern and South Western Railway. It’s alleged that passengers paid for part of their journeys twice because they were not offered a ‘boundary’ fare. It is thought that the claims could total £93 million. Justin Gutmann, who used to be with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, will be the class representive. He told City AM: ‘This is a great step forward in my legal campaign to achieve justice for millions of rail passengers who have been overpaying as a result of the train operating companies not offering “boundary fares”. It means that we can now hold Southeastern and South Western to account by going to court.’
