Storm Barra disrupts train services in Scotland, Wales
Storm Barra has disrupted train services in Scotland and Wales, with a yellow weather warning in force over most of Britain. In Scotland, LNER is not running north of Edinburgh, while trains may be cancelled on the Stranraer line. There are delays between Portlethen and Laurencekirk, while services may also be altered between Montrose and Inverurie.
There is disruption in many parts of Wales, including on the lines to Holyhead and Aberystwyth. There are no trains to Fishguard Harbour. Chester to Cardiff trains will run only between Chester and Shrewsbury, there are no trains between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog on the Conwy Valley line, and Maesteg line trains will not run between Bridgend and Cardiff Central.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: ‘Our members have reported appalling conditions overnight as Storm Barra batters Britain and we pay tribute to all those who have been battling to keep transport services running.’
