MD of new open access operator steps down

The managing director of FirstGroup’s new open access operator Lumo is leaving, less than three months after the first trains ran between London and Edinburgh. First said Helen Wylde stepped down yesterday ‘in order to take up a position outside the rail industry’. She had been with First since March 2020 to set up Lumo and oversee the start of services on 20 October. Andy Mellors, the md of First’s non-franchised businesses, wished her well and paid tribute to her contribution. Her successor for now as Lumo’s interim md is Phil Cameron, who is First Rail’s commercial projects director.
