FirstGroup confirms open access start date

FirstGroup will be launching its open access Lumo service between Stirling and London this month. Access rights were granted by the Office of Rail and Road in March 2024, but more recent applications for other routes have not succeeded. Alstom has signed a contract worth £50 million with FirstGroup and Eversholt Rail

Great Western renationalisation date revealed

FirstGroup’s National Rail Contract for Great Western Railway will be renationalised on 13 December, after Chiltern Railways has returned to public ownership on 20 September. The current GWR contract started on 26 June 2022, but privatisation began on 4 January 1996, when a first-generation franchise lasting ten years had been signed

GWR announces new route for Class 175s
